A New Way to Experience Light: Abner’s New Experience Centre Changes the Perspective What happens when light is experienced not as an object, but as part of a space? At Abner’s new Experience Centre in Worli, lighting becomes part of the architecture, materiality and atmosphere around it.

Mumbai, August 21, 2026: Abner has opened its first Experience Centre in Worli, Mumbai, creating a dedicated physical space for the brand’s architectural and decorative lighting collections. Unveiled over three days from August 19 to 21, the Centre marks a significant step in Abner’s engagement with India’s architectural and design community, bringing its work together in a setting where lighting can be experienced within a larger design context.
For Abner, the Experience Centre is also a physical expression of the idea that has shaped the brand since its inception. In its Hebrew lineage, Abner carries a profound meaning: ab, meaning father, and ner, meaning lamp or light. Together, they evoke the idea of the Father of Light—not simply its maker, but its origin; the enduring source from which every illuminating beam emerges.
This idea of light as an integral part of the experience of a space has shaped Abner’s approach to design. The brand has introduced concrete outdoor lighting, Spanish alabaster decorative lighting and marble-based exterior lighting to the Indian market, combining European design sensibilities with engineering tailored to Indian lifestyles and climates. This approach comes together at the Experience Centre through Abner’s Stone, Concrete, Marble and Architectural Lighting collections, spanning both decorative and integrated lighting solutions. Each solution can also be customised to suit the specific requirements of a project, allowing designers and architects to adapt the lighting to different spaces, applications and design needs.
Designed by Karan Desai, the space features warm terracotta surfaces, curved forms, recessed niches and built-in seating, creating a dynamic journey through the space. Dark accents, black metal, natural moss and translucent elements form a considered backdrop for the lighting, allowing the collections to be experienced across different settings and applications.
Over the years, Abner has completed more than 1,000 projects across the residential, retail and hospitality sectors and works with a network of over 120 architects and interior designers across the country to develop customised lighting solutions. Its dedicated manufacturing facility in Bhiwandi further enables greater customisation, quality control and reliable delivery timelines, allowing the brand to bring together design intent and technical execution under one ecosystem.
“This Experience Centre is an important milestone for Abner as we establish a physical presence in the country where people can experience the breadth of our work firsthand. A lot of thought has gone into creating this space, and I’m excited to see how people interact with it and respond to the experience we’ve created,” says Shashank Nayak, Founder, Abner.
The opening brought together architects, designers, lighting professionals and members of Mumbai’s design community, establishing the Experience Centre as an exciting new design destination in the city
