On International Yoga Day, Maharashtra Legislative Speaker Adv. Rahul Narwekar hosted one of the most significant Yoga Day events for the first time in the history of any legislature. This is the first ever time that an event as such on a big scale was organized by the honorable speaker at the Vidhan Bhavan. The successful event was attended by thousands of yoga enthusiasts who assembled early morning on the grounds of Vidhan Bhavan. Governor Shri Ramesh Bais, the Chief Minister of Maharashtra Shri Eknath Shinde, and Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra Shri Devendra Fadnavis, also attended the event and highlighted the importance of Yoga and how one should be coming forward to do this regularly.
Addressing the attendees at the event, Shri Rahul Narwekar said, “I convey my gratitude to the visionary leadership of our Honorable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. Yoga has been embraced and celebrated on international platforms on a grand scale. As everyone knows, our Prime Minister Shri. Narendra Modi, is on an international tour in the United States to commemorate Yoga alongside participants from more than 180 countries. This celebration of Yoga is not limited to international events alone but has permeated every state, district, taluka, and street in our country. I thank all government officials, residents, and esteemed individuals today as we celebrate International Yoga Day. In the end, I would like to say to everyone, “Yoga kara, swastha raha (Do Yoga, be healthy).”
June 21, commemorated as International Yoga Day, has become an occasion for our country to come together and celebrate. This year’s event theme was Yoga for Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, which metaphorically transcends the meaning of our common ambition for ‘One Earth, One Family, and One Future.’
